ASHTON BEARS v SALFORD CITY ROOSTERS
11th March 2018
In our first game of the season we travelled to Ashton Bears. With only 12 players we knew it would be a hard game, and the heavy conditions under foot would also play there part.
With 5 players making their debut for the Roosters, we started well, strong in defence, but it was Ashton who scored first (4-0). From the restart we struggled to get out of our half and on the turn over Ashton forced their 2nd score (8-0).
We pushed hard but couldn’t cross the white wash. From a well worked move Ashton crossed again (12-0). Salford pushed hard and a nice pass put Josh Bardsley through the gap and to score (12-6) converted by Alex Speakman.
Ashton managed to break us down out wide for another score (16-6). We attacked well and the ball went through some hands to see Josh Connolly go in for his try (16-12)
Converted by Alex Speakman.
Halftime came 16-12
In the 2nd half the lads worked hard in defence with strong tackling from everyone, but unfortunately Ashton managed to run in 3 more trys to finish (30-12).
Everyone played well today in poor conditions and some debatable decisions from the referee.
Onwards Lads, lots of positives for next week
