U-7s Match Reports - 2017

Sunday, 12th March - the U7's made the journey over to Littleborough.

For once we started with the larger side, but agreed to play 5 a-side.

For the first 10 minutes it was just a try-fest, each side unable to stop the other from scoring but,  after a brief talking to, the young Roosters turned on their tackling game.  Within minutes they were dominating the game. The confidence of the team really encouraged the new younger kids, who really got stuck in.  In the end the roosters ran out victors 12-8.

Man of the match went out to newest member of the squad Thomas Foster who's gallant effort on the field was noticed by both his team mates and the opposition’s coach.

Top Tackler went to Taj Hauraki who's persistent defending was excellent.

Try scorers were:  George Campbell 4, Finn Davies(1) 4, Finn Davies(2) 2, Luis Doherty 1, Taj Hauraki 1,

Good work boys!  Let's keep it up.

5th March 2017 -  The U7's played their first match of the season against Goldborne Golds. A tester for the young lads as they've lost a number of key players who have moved up to the newly formed U8's.  In what could possibly have been the wettest conditions the boys have experienced, their determination was paramount.  A small squad of 8, including 2 new members to the side, they faced a much larger side -  not that this fazed them in the slightest!  From the off, the two sides played an evenly matched game. The Roosters displayed some quality defensive play, holding off the opposition. The weather didn't help though. On a number of occasions the awful conditions and boggy pitch were more of a challenge than the opposing team, and at the end of the third set, we agreed to call it time as the kids were struggling.  It was a close game and the Roosters lost 5-6.

Man of the Match went to the ever determined George Campbell.  Top Tackler was an easy choice as Finn Davies flung himself in the way of everything and anything.

Try scorers were:  Finn Davies, George Campbell 2, Finn A. Davies,  Taj Hauraki (who's try should win an award for most metres covered!).  Well done boys, a positive start to the season.  Please spread to word that we're looking for new players to build up the squad.
